Martha Stewart Rainbow Cake

Ingredients

  • Vegetable shortening
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 1/3 cups sugar
  • 5 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups milk, room temperature
  • Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple gel food coloring
  • Lemony Swiss Meringue Buttercream
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush six 9-inch-round cake pans (or as many 9-inch cake pans as you have, reusing them as necessary) with shortening. Line bottom of each cake pan with parchment paper; brush again and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together butter and sugar. Slowly add egg whites and mix until well combined. Add vanilla and mix until fully incorporated. Add flour mixture and milk in two alternating additions, beginning with the flour and ending with the milk. Mix until well combined.
  3. Divide batter evenly between six medium bowls. Add enough of each color of food coloring to each bowl, whisking, until desired shade is reached. Transfer each color to an individual cake pan. Transfer to oven and bake until a cake tester inserted into the center of each cake comes out clean, about 15 minutes (working in batches if necessary).
  4. Remove cakes from oven and transfer to a wire rack; let cool for 10 minutes. Invert cakes onto a wire rack; re-invert and let cool completely.
  5. Using a serrated knife, trim tops of cakes to make level. Place four strips of parchment paper around perimeter of a serving plate or lazy Susan. Place the purple layer on the cake plate. Spread a scant 1 cup buttercream filling over the first layer with a small offset spatula so it extends just beyond edges. Repeat process with blue, green, yellow, and orange layers.
  6. Place the remaining red layer on top, bottom-side up. Gently sweep away any loose crumbs with a pastry brush. Using an offset spatula, cover the top and sides with a thin layer of frosting (also use any of the excess frosting visible between the layers). Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes.
  7. Using an offset spatula, cover cake again with remaining frosting.

Ulta , lorac and sephora haul !!

This is my recent orders from online from Lorac, Ulta and went shopping at sepohra with Christmas gift cards

I really enjoy ordering online from ULTA because they give free gift with a minimum purchase and they are good at giving a variety of products and nice size ones too and I don't have a Ulta near me. that cosmetics bag came filled with products, even a hair spray from KMS california (name on the bottle), And the cosmetic bag is great quality too, I was very surprised.

I ordered my Boyfriend a cologne called Gucci Guilty Intense and hence the name a little goes a long way

I am moving away from my sigma brush purchases after one of my brushes broke, They did replace it but now I am kind of scared of purchasing brushes and have them brake on me. So from ULTA I got the Real techniques brush by Samantha Chapman, I hear good reviews about these brushes and they are extremely affordable. Sigma Brushes and their price are starting to slowly creep up,

I also bought a Cream hair bleach from Sally Hansen because I want to bleach my upper lip hair, since I do not want to get in the habit of shaving or waxing. Trying this out, hopefully it works.

I placed an order from LORAC cosmetics, and I got the pro to go palette because it has a contour, and two blushes.

From sephora I got a blush in amused from TARTE, my first product from them, The purity face cleanser because I did buy a CLARISONIC, which I am really excited about. I got a back up of the Anastasia brow wiz pencil, I love it because it is so precise and small, I just never want to run out of it.

I got a Fresh sugar Berry lip treatment, It gives me a nice tint to my lips and they go on so smooth and buttery. And last but not least I got a Josie Maran argon oil in light, I meant to get the regular one but, when I got home I realized I got it in light.

New Anastasia eye brow pomade !

This is a new Anastiasia product! It is called DIPBROW POMADE. It comes in four colors
Auburn, dark brown, chocolate, and ebony.

The one that I have is Dark brown because I have dark eye brows.
I apply this product with my sigma E65 small angled brush

It retails for 18 dollars now on her website and sephora

It claims to be smudge free, creamy, waterproof, adheres in hair and it can be used as an eye liner, which is like two products in one!

Makeup collection and storage !

This is my current set up and collection. My main storages are from the container store.
This is the overall view of one side of my collection. I keep all my foundations and mac lipsticks on top of the acrylic sets.
On the side I have my everyday makeup brushes.

Here is the other side. I could not take a full picture. But on this side I keep my wipes, palettes, sigma brush cleaner, brush holder with clean brushes.
Inside the benefit tin in the right side corner I keep back ups and makeup samples

Okay going inside of the drawers and in more detail.
This if the first drawer on the left I have eye products and eyebrow products in here. Like the urban decay glide on pencils, mac eye shadows all the way in the bottom I have a sleek eye shadow palette

In the second drawer I have lip products. Mostly lip balms and tints. EOS lip balms, which I like, I really love fresh sugar rose lip balms I have a small birthday one there from sephora. I would really purchase the full size. I also really like the baby lips!
Here in this drawer I keep lip glosses and lip liners, and some sharpners in the corner

Now this is the second three drawer acrylic from the container store on the right.
I keep eye primers, bases and mascaras, my favorite is they're real from benefit! I don't think I'll ever go back to any other mascara!
I have some single eye shadows on the corner

On the second drawer on the right I keep my concealers, compact foundations, moisture tint from mac , I have a highlighter in soft and gentle on the bottom and my overall face powders
My last drawer on the bottom right I keep  blushes, highlighters and primers, I have brands from NYX, MAC and BENEFIT

My favorite part . All my mac lipsticks ! I own 5 of them. I have one wet and wild one in the back and a sephora one
From left to right I have
HEROINE
CAPTIVE
TOUCH
DIVA
REBEL

Favorite place to eat ! MAX BRENNER

This is my favorite place to eat! It is a chocolate restaurant. They have the best desserts and the best bacon mac and cheese. I go here all the time as you can see!!
Here is the website link for menus and locations

New SIGMA BRUSHES

I recently purchased new sigma brushes! I love sigma and their quality in their makeup. They are getting more popular and their collection is growing more and more. One downside about sigma is that it is getting more expensive. 😢

I got the precision flat angled brush P88 to apply my under eye concealer
I also got the small tapered blending E45 to blend darker colors in the outer V of my eye
One of my favorite brushes did break on me. I have no idea why because I do use their dry and shape to dry by brushes and I take good care of them. But the barrel on this brush was always lose. I kind of ignored it until it completely came off.
I contacted Sigma and they sent me a new replacement, which was great!
I use this brush for a lot of things
Spot concealing
Placing Cream eye shadow
Priming my eye lids
And applying under eye concealer

Sephora Haul

This is my sephora haul. I gradually purchased these products in the last few months. I did not buy it all at once but I have been loving these products and thought I should share with you why I like and recommend them.
From left to right I got
ANASTASIA BROW WIZ PENCIL IN BRUNETTE
URBAN DECAY NAKED SKIN FOUNDATION IN 9.0
URBAN DECAY GLIDE ON CONCEALER IN KGB
NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER IN CARAMEL
SEXY MOTHER PUCKER EXTREME SOAP AND GLORY PLUMP LIPGLOSS IN HOW NUDE
JOSIE MARAN ARGON OIL IN LIGHT
URBAN DECAY ALL NIGHTER SETTING SPRAY
BENEFIT POREFESSIONAL PRIMER
I am really loving a combination of these two products
I use the Nars concealer in caramel to brighten up my undereyes, it does not crease and I blends perfectly.
I did splurge in this product because it was about 30 dollars, but I wanted to try something that was not MAC
The Urban Decay Naked foundation is a great foundation. It is extremely light weight and it give me a semi matte finish. It is not completely matte it gives the skins nice glow. My skin peaks out if the foundation, which is something I like because it looks nice a natural
I love lipglosses that leave a tingly feeling on my lips, I enjoy MACS plush glass and BUXOM Lip gloss in Dolly I always use it up and repurchase it. But when I tried this lipgloss at sephora I had to get it.
It has a chocolate scent. It is a perfect nude for medium skin like mine
And it leaves a very strong tingly feeling on my lips that I like .
If you do not like that tingly, firery feeling on your lips then this lipgloss is not for you. It does plump your lips and it is long lasting!
This is what the product looks like. It has some nice sheen and shine to it.

Current skin are routine

These are my current skin care routine products
I use PAMPERS SENSETIVE BABY WIPES to wipe off my makeup.
good for sensetive skin,
don't have a strong smell,
don't sting my eyes even in the hard to get spots.
cheap and affordable
It takes off most of my makeup by not everything.

I am in love with the MAYBELLINE CLEAN EXPRESS EYE MAKEUP REMOVER. I was convinced by Nicole Guerriero youtube's Chanel.
It is a water based eye makeup remover but I suggest you wash your face after because you do not want to break out
Smells great
Good closure to travel or out in your makeup bag
Leaves a cool feeling on the skin

After I take off most of my makeup and my eye makeup I wash my face with the NOXZEMA DAILY FACIAL SCRUB
It smells great
Not to harsh on the skin because it is a scrub
Minimizes my blemishes
Leaves a cool and refreshed feeling on my face.

Once my face is cleaned and all my makeup is off I use CARMEX to moisturize my lips and I apply JOSIE MARAN ARGON OIL IN LIGHT
This is a great product for dry skin like mine or even oily skin
Does not have a smell
Absorbs extremely quick on the skin
Dries like a matte finish
Very versatile, you can use it for your cuticles, and hair, I will definitely purchase the bigger bottle of this and maybe try the regular argon oil from her line

Mac haul and review

Welcome to my recent MAC cosmetics haul. These are the recent products that I have added to my collection. I did not buy these products all at the same time. Some I purchased online and at my local MAC store.

The products here are
STUDIO TECH FOUNDATION IN NC45
PRO LONG WEAR CONCEALER IN NC45
PAINT POT IN GROUNDWORK
FLUIDLINE IN BLACKTRACK
MATTE HEROINE LIPSTICK
MOSITURE TINT IN DARK PLUS
PAN REFIL IN
WOODWINKED,
EXPRESSO,
SOFT BROWN
This is the studio tech foundation it comes in this compact and it also come with an application sponge

This foundation is good for dry skin it applies nice and creamy on the skin. You can build up the coverage with this foundation. I apply this foundation with my sigma F80 the flat top kabuki brush and it gives me a nice even finish.
This is the groundwork paint pot. I like to apply this all over my eye lid to even them  out. It works great as a primer and let's your shadows stay all day long. I recommend to apply this with your fingers because it heats up the product, making it blend better.
Fluidlune in blacktrack by mac has been my favorite! This has made applying cream eye liner so easy! I apply it with my sigma E05 brush and I get the perfect cat eye !
These are swatches of the mac shadows I bought which are soft brown, expresso, and woodwinked, which I really like
I saved the best for last . This is Heroine a matte lipstick. It is a completely purple color and it looks great on medium to fake skin tones like mine. I love that as you wear it through out the day it wears off but it leaves a wonderful tint and stain to your lips. I'm glad that they mad heroine to the permanent collection!
